Overview

Dikt is a Windows speech-to-text application. This policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We collect minimal data and never sell it.

Data We Collect

When You Purchase

When you buy a license, Stripe processes your payment. We receive your email address to deliver your license key. We store: your email address, license tier, purchase date, and Stripe customer ID.

Anonymous Telemetry

The Dikt desktop app sends anonymous heartbeat pings every 6 hours. These contain: an anonymized machine identifier (SHA-256 hash, not reversible), app version, OS version, and feature usage counts. No audio, transcription text, or personal data is ever included. You can disable telemetry in Settings → Privacy → Enable Telemetry.

Support Tickets

If you contact support, we collect your email address and the content of your message to respond to your inquiry.

Website Chat

Conversations with the AI assistant on our website are stored temporarily (up to 30 days) to maintain session context. They are not linked to your identity unless you provide identifying information.

Data We Do NOT Collect

  • Your audio recordings
  • Your transcription text
  • Your API keys (stored encrypted on your device with Windows DPAPI)
  • Your settings or preferences

Third-Party Services

  • Stripe — Payment processing. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
  • OpenAI (optional) — If you use cloud transcription or AI cleanup, audio is sent to OpenAI. Subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
  • Anthropic (optional) — If you use the AI cleanup feature with Anthropic, transcription text is sent to Anthropic's servers for processing. Subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
  • Supabase — Database hosting for licenses and support tickets. Data is stored in the US.

Data Retention

  • License records: retained for legal and tax compliance (7 years)
  • Support tickets: retained for 2 years
  • Anonymous telemetry: aggregated after 90 days, raw data deleted
  • Chat sessions: deleted after 30 days

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting privacy@dikt.app. We will respond within 30 days.

Children

Dikt is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated date.
