Cast Transcripts Between Windows PCs
Pair your Windows PCs, send encrypted transcripts over your local network, choose how text arrives, and configure Dikt's optional Pro relay.
Dictate on one PC and receive text on another
Cast sends finished transcripts between PCs running Dikt with end-to-end encryption. Casting on your local network works on every plan without an account. The optional internet relay requires a Pro licence linked to your Dikt account.
Pair your Windows PCs
- Connect both PCs to the same trusted network. Open Settings → Data & Storage → Cast on each PC and enable casting.
- On the first PC, select “Pair another PC to this one”.
- On the other PC, select “Pair this PC to another” and choose the first PC.
- Compare the six-digit number shown on both screens. Confirm on both PCs only when the numbers match. If they differ, reject the pairing.
- Choose what the receiving PC should do under “When one arrives”, then dictate on the sending PC.
Choose how transcripts arrive
The default is “Copy it to my clipboard”. You can also ignore incoming text, hold it until you ask, or type it at the receiving PC’s cursor. Cursor typing inserts into whichever window is focused when the transcript arrives.
Untick “Send transcripts from this device” for a receiver-only PC. Received text is only saved to that PC’s history if you enable “Record received transcripts in my history”. Received transcripts are never forwarded, and AI Command Mode results are not cast.
Use the relay away from home
Enable “Use the dikt.app relay when no device is on my network” with a linked Pro licence. Dikt tries the local network first. The relay holds encrypted transcripts for up to one minute for the other PC to collect; it is not long-term transcript storage.
Local-Only Mode always blocks the relay. It also blocks LAN casting unless you explicitly enable “Allow casting on my local network in Local-Only mode”.
When PCs cannot find each other
Check that both PCs are on the same network and that Windows Firewall allows Dikt on your trusted private network. Guest Wi-Fi or network isolation can prevent discovery. Under Cast → Advanced, the discovery port must match on both PCs; its default is 9849. The default Cast port is 9848. Both ports must differ from the local API port.
